从某个角度来说，圣经是上帝所默示的这个教义在所有教义中是最重要的，因为其他所有的教义、敬畏上帝和敬虔生活的教导，都来自圣经。没有圣经，我们就不能认识上帝，从而也不能认识祂所差派的耶稣基督，而认识上帝和耶稣基督就是永生。上帝透过耶稣基督把自己启示出来，这一切都记载在圣经里，圣经也是我们过圣洁生活的唯一指导，所以没有圣经，我们就不知道应该怎样讨上帝的喜悦。因此，如果圣经不是上帝所默示的话语，那么，我们就会丧失一切。
